eine weitere doppelseite im friedhofsbuch. ich liebe diesen font (“old english text mt”), hier wieder gedruckt auf eingefärbtes kontenpapier. die gestempelte taube im hintergrund ist von rbbb, das foto hab ich irgendwo bei google gefunden…

another spread in the graveyard book. i love the font “old english text mt”, which i printed onto old ledger paper (once more dyed with vivid inks). the dove stamp in the background is from rbbb, the picture found via google.

hier sind alle verwendeten stempel von green pepper press (michelle ward). und da michelle gerade in trauer ist um ihre vor ein paar wochen verstorbene schwester, ist ihr diese seite gewidmet…
ich liebe den schmetterling als symbol für transformation. und ich hoffe fest auf die freiheit, die das jenseits bringen wird: freiheit von schmerzen, allen einschränkungen… freiheit zu einem glück, das wir uns hier gar nicht vorstellen können…

this spread is dedicated to michelle ward, who lost her sister shannon in july to cystic fibrosis. i love the butterfly as a symbol of transformation. i truly believe in the freedom we will get in the afterlife. freedom from pain, from all restrictions – freedom to get absolute happiness in a way we can´t imagine yet.

graveyard book – where do we go?

letztes jahr um diese zeit hatte ich ein friedhofsbuch angefangen, und jetzt war ich in der stimmung, daran weiter zu machen. es ist hauptsächlich in drei farben gehalten: tiefes purpur (ich glaube ich habe “garnet” verwendet), schwarz (kommt als dunkles grau heraus) und türkis. gefärbt habe ich natürlich mit meinen lieblingsfarben, den refills von “vivid” (sie sind in deutschland immer schwerer zu bekommen – und dabei liebe ich gerade diese kräftigen farben!).
die seiten des letzten jahres sind übrigens hier noch einmal zu sehen…

last year i had started a graveyard book – and now i was in the mood to make another spread in this altered book. it is held in three colors mostly: deep purple, dark grey and turquoise (vivid colors are the brand i preferably use). if you want to see the older entries, just click here.

bis vor wenigen jahren galt die calla als typische “totenblume”. die farbe weiß steht für reinheit, unschuld und jungfräulichkeit.
sie wird schon seit den tagen der römer als festliche blume betrachtet. sie wurde mit dem licht assoziiert, wohl vermutlich weil sie auch in der dunklen jahreszeit reichlich blühte.
andererseits ist die phallische symbolik des blütenstempels nicht zu übersehen – deshalb steht die calla auch für hochzeiten und wiedergeburt/auferstehung. auf letztere deutet auch die trompetenartige blütenform hin, die an den jüngsten tag erinnern soll.

Freud provided a sexual interpretation of its form… so is often used to represent marriage. And resurrection: the cone-like flowers are said to resemble trumpets heralding victory.

this is a spread in the book i will name the “graveyard book”, one of the series of my “death” ab´s.

i´m going to label it for michelle´s gpp street team crusade no. 13. (theme is “gothic”)
