wallhangings done!

ich hatte ja versprochen ein foto zu liefern, wenn die wandbehänge fertig sind… voilà, grade aufgehängt…

i had promised to show a photo when the wallhangings are finished… voilà. just hung them up…

ja! das aufnähen ist geschafft!:))

jetzt muss ich nur noch einen hintergrundstoff annähen (die vorderseite ist mit einem vlies verdickt) und schlaufen zum aufhängen machen. ich werde wohl einen bambusstab oder ähnliches mit roter acrylfarbe einpinseln und an dem dann die schlaufen durchziehen.

ich hab jetzt noch 2 weitere mexiko-quilties übrig, die hab ich hier nicht mehr untergebracht (ein dritter blieb ausstehend, eine teilnehmerin aus den usa hat mich sitzen gelassen… nachdem sie meinen quilt erhalten und sich darüber gefreut hatte, hat sie nicht mehr auf emails reagiert… die freuden des swappens, kommt halt auch vor, demoralisiert aber schon…). die zwei restlichen sind in ihren motiven ähnlich zweien, die hier verarbeitet sind, deshalb hab ich sie draußen gelassen und werde sie vielleicht in einem mexikanischen buch verarbeiten…

yep! sewing on is done!:))

now i have to add a background fabric and loops. i think i will paint a bamboo stick with red acrylics to hang it on.

i have left two more mexico-quilties (actually i should have a third one, but one participant from the usa abandoned me… after she had happily got my quilt she never responded to my emails… the joys of swapping; that sometimes happens… not fair play…). the two left-overs are similar to two of those i used for the wallhanging, so i left them out and will take them for a mexican book i plan to make…

nachdem ich meinen quilt zweimal an der bettdecke festgenäht hatte *g*, fand ich heraus, dass die beste nähposition stehend an meinem bügelbrett ist;) so gehts richtig fix und ich bin zuversichtlich, auch die drei quadrate der obersten reihe heute noch zu schaffen…

sewing in bed i fixed the quilt twice at the blanket *g*, so i looked for a better option and found out – best is sewing when i stand at my ironing board. it goes faster there and i´m confident to finish the last three squares of the top-row today…

na, handsticken geht auch neben dem fernsehen… bitte meine stiche nicht allzu pingelfritzig zu begutachten *g*.
aber drei quadrate sind mittlerweile aufgenäht und ich möchte doch noch gerne die künstlerinnen zu ehren kommen lassen:

ich hatte ja beschlossen, mich dieses jahr ein bisschen um meine “unvollendeten” zu kümmern, dann wirds auch langsam zeit, damit anzufangen: meine erste “Work-in-Progress” ist dieser wandbehang, auf dem ich stoffquadrate verarbeiten werde, die ich bei einem swap 2005 (!!) von internationalen teilnehmerinnen bekommen habe: damals konnte sich jede teilnehmerin ein thema aussuchen, welche stücke sie gerne erhalten würde, und dann wurde getauscht… ich fand das niveau ziemlich hoch und hab mich über die tollen stücke sehr gefreut. allerdings lagen sie dann da, fast drei jahre… ich hatte irgendwie hemmungen, sie zu verarbeiten (ich bin da nicht gut in so exakten quiltarbeiten…).
aber jetzt muss es mal sein, wär ja schade drum… und da ich eben eh nicht so eine näh-perfektionistin bin und die stücke auch nicht alle ganz gleich groß sind (lässt sich aber auch nicht mehr angleichen), habe ich beschlossen, um jedes quadrat nochmal mit hand rumzusticheln… das betont dann das “nicht perfekte” und ich mag das eh gerne.
hier aber erst einmal das “layout”, wie die quiltstückchen auf den stoff genäht werden sollen:
(ach ja, falls es jemand noch nicht erraten hat: mein thema war “mexiko”)

my decision was to work on some UFOs this year, and so this is my first WiP: i had participated in a swap of fabric quilts (back in 2005!), where everybody could choose a theme for the pieces she wanted to receive. i chose “mexico” and got wonderful quilts from ladies all around the world.

these have been laying around for almost 3 years now… shame!! but i always hesitated to begin, being afraid i couldn´t work it well together… so now i just give it a try…

the squares are not all exact the same size and so i think it will look fine if i will handstitch around every piece, which gives another look of a little “imperfection” (which i actually like)…
