i wanted to make a little something for the girlfriend of my son… she´s such a wonderful young woman, a very creative soul and always appreciating my works. so i made this fabric scroll around a wooden bobbin, as she is a quotes lover like i am. this way i could combine some of my favorite media: i printed out some of the photos i made and edited recently (onto fabric), searched for some quotes (typed them onto scanned spraypainted backgrounds, also printed them on fabric) and sewed these alternating onto a long yellow piece of fabric.
(i´m a bit early, but as the theme of take-a-word on monday will be “sewing”, i offer this one for my contribution)

the last part of the fabric is glued to the bobbin, the rest is wound around the spool and can be held together with a ribbon i fixed in an eyelet

at the end i glued matching pictures at the top and bottom of the bobbin…

für die freundin meines sohnes wollte ich ein geburtstagsgeschenk machen – sie ist so eine liebe und kreative und immer ganz angetan von meinen sachen… deswegen war klar: sie kriegt etwas selbstgemachtes.

wie ich liebt sie sprüche, deswegen hab ich mal ein paar zusammengetragen (als oberbegriff kristallisierte sich “buddha” heraus…). hab die sprüche auf ausschnitte meiner gesprayten & gescannten hintergründe getippt und auf stoff ausgedruckt. ebenso auf stoff gedruckt sind die miniaturen meiner kürzlich fotografierten und bearbeiteten fotos… so konnte ich mal wieder prima meine verschiedenen leidenschaften kombinieren… habe die bilder und sprüche abwechselnd auf ein langes gelbes stoffband genäht, dieses an eine hölzerne garnspule geklebt. dann lässt es sich aufwickeln wie eine spruchrolle. am schluss sorgt ein eyelet mit einem bändel dafür, dass die rolle zusammengehalten wird. oben und unten noch ein passendes bild drauf geklebt, fertig.
