heute war bestes flohmarktwetter, also fuhren wir nach pfaffenhofen, wo es einmal im monat einen tollen flohmarkt gibt. ich wollte mal wieder auf einen “besseren” gehen, denn bei uns am ort ist es mittlerweile eher selten, dass ich was finde. (muss nächstes mal dringend einen fotoapparat mitnehmen, um die schätzchen zu fotografieren, die ich mir nicht leisten kann…. oh… schwärm, sachen hätte es da gegeben, allerdings deutlich jenseits der tausendergrenze… tja, ein geldesel wär nicht schlecht…)
auch in “meiner preislage” waren ein paar schöne sachen dabei.

solche votivherzen sind zwar nicht spottbillig, aber 50 euro waren mir die drei dann wert. (gut dass ich nicht mehr geld dabei hatte, denn hier fiel mir die beherrschung sehr schwer!)

in dieser ledertasche war neben alten straßenkarten auch noch dieser witzige abreissblock: zum unterschreiben, dass man auf eigene gefahr in das auto einsteigt;)

in this old leather pocket there also was a block to accept “you are going on this car ride at your own risk”;)

neben ein paar (etliche jahrzehnte alten) sparbüchern konnte ich relativ günstig bei einem händler 2 fotoalben (à 20 euro) und ein poesiealbum (10 euro) erstehen.
i bought several old bank booklets, two photo albums and one autograph book (poetry book?).

ich kann ja die alte sütterlin schrift noch lesen und wundere mich jedesmal über die sorgfalt, die damals darauf verwendet wurde…
i always admire the carefulness they spent on these…

in einem der fotoalben sind viele original gemalte bilder, passend zu den (über hundert) aufnahmen… was für ein aufwand!!
one of the photo albums was decorated with original paintings matching the themes of the pictures… what an effort!!

im zweiten album sind fast 300 bilder, z.t. seeeehr schön!!

flea market book

i LOVE numbers, tables, engineering drawings… not that i understand them (maybe exactly THAT is the fascination about them LOL) and i´m always hunting for such books on flea markets… the more ragged the condition, the better (helps me to come over my scruples to slaughter them;))

this one is in quite good condition (printed in 1930, about 150 pages) and i am in the stage of hesitation to tear it up… but then, that´s what i have bought it for… and it is NOT the same to use copies, tinting the originals looks much better! my fingers are itching…

ich LIEBE ja zahlen, tabellen, konstruktionszeichnungen… nicht, dass ich sie verstehen würde (wahrscheinlich ist das gerade das faszinierende daran *g*) und ich bin immer auf der jagd nach solchen büchern… je zerfledderter, desto besser (dann habe ich weniger skrupel, sie auszuschlachten;))
dieses hier (von 1930, ca. 150 seiten) ist in ziemlich gutem zustand und ich zögere noch, es zu zerreißen… andererseits: genau dafür hab ich es gekauft… und es ist NICHT das gleiche, kopien davon zu verwenden – die originale färben sich viel besser ein und sehen einfach toller aus! meine finger jucken…

flea market in prague

i spent the weekend with 3 girlfriends in prague… i consider to make a paper&fabric journal about it, but time is short at the moment.
of course we had to go to the flea market on saturday. i had a great find of old ornaments – i bought 19 pieces, some doubles, and i´m so happy about them. i scanned three of them to give it out as freebie pictures: you can download them and use them in your art (would be nice to send me a link to see). please do NOT use them to print them on any collagesheets you sell. gives bad karma;)

hab das verlängerte wochenende mit drei freundinnen in prag verbracht… möchte vielleicht ein stoff&papier-journal darüber machen, aber im moment ist die zeit knapp.
natürlich mussten wir am samstag morgen unbedingt auf den flohmarkt! mein bester fund war ein kistchen voller weihnachtsanhänger (d.h. es waren auch osterhasen dabei…;)) – insgesamt 19 stück, auch doppelte waren dabei. die 3 weihnachtlichsten davon hab ich mal gescannt und stelle sie euch gern als freebies zur verfügung. aber bitte nur für eigene werke verwenden (ein link dazu wäre nett) und keinesfalls auf collageblätter setzen, die ihr verkaufen wollt. gibt schlechtes karma;)

am ersten samstag im monat ist bei uns flohmarkt. das wetter war heute morgen noch nicht recht freundlich, so dass ich mir echt überlegte, ob ich überhaupt hingehen soll… hab mich dann doch aufgerafft und ein paar wirklich nette sachen gefunden:

the first saturday of the month is flea market day in our little town. the weather was not so fine this morning, so i hesitated – but then i went there and had some good finds:

eigentlich schau ich ja überhaupt nicht mehr nach büchern mit alter schrift, aber diesem hier konnte ich dann doch nicht widerstehen – es ist nur etwa atc-groß und hat wirklich eine riesige schrift!

normally i´m no longer looking for books with old script (i have enough of them), but i couldn´t resist this one – it is only about atc-size and really has big letters!

nicht ganz so leicht zu finden (und deshalb auch nicht ganz so billig; 4 euro wars mir dann auch wert) sind alte bücher mit tabellenkalkulationen, technischen zeichnungen etc. – dieses ist von 1930 und hat 180 seiten, vollgepfropft mit seiten wie dieser:

not so easy to find (and therefore not so cheap) are old books with numbers, calculations and drawings of mechanical things… so i had to buy this one from 1930… 180 pages chock full of pages like this one:

und diese alten weihnachtsfotos hab ich dann auch noch erstanden (zum kramen in den cabinet cards war ich dann zu faul, mein bedarf für heute war dann gesättigt…)

ach, und nicht zu vergessen mein erster fund gleich zu anfang (da wars dann eigentlich schon klar, dass es sich rentiert hatte;))… 8 kartenspiele für meine sammlung, in gutem zustand, verschiedene sonderausgaben (besonders schön natürlich loriot…)
and not to forget my first find – 8 (!) full decks of playing cards in good condition, various special editions…

my recent visit at the flea market wasn´t as successful as gaby´s, but i found a few cab cards and some old chocolate moulds, which i do collect, too (well, is there anything i don´t collect LOL!!)

i´m always looking for these boxes we have in our first classes at school, which consist of single letters for children to learn to spell words. as the writing of the cursive letters (at the back of the block letter-strips) changes from time to time, the old ones are sold cheap at fleamarkets. the single strips are good for collages (see my contributions to the wednesdaystampers this week). — plus i bought 2 small crucifixes (one wood & metal, the other with mother of pearl) and an old book with numbers (smells moldy, will put in into the cat litter sack for some time;))

wonach ich immer ausschau halte, sind alte lesekästen. die schreibschrift ändert sich ja alle naselang, deswegen gibt es immer wieder neuauflagen und die alten werden auf dem flohmarkt verramscht. die einzelnen buchstaben (vorn druckschrift, hinten schreibschrift) lassen sich prima in collagen verwenden (siehe meine beiträge zu den mittwochsstemplern diese woche). — außerdem 2 kleine kreuze (eins aus holz & metall, eins mit perlmutt) und ein altes rechentabellen-buch (riecht ganz schön modrig, werde es wohl erstmal in der katzenstreu vergraben *g*)

first saturday in the month – fleamarket day! not very busy there, as the weather could be better and many people are on vacancies now. maybe a quarter of the booths as normal. but you never know… YEPP, you never know!! i found this album of cab- and cdv-cards (first time i saw this ever in our little town!). it was not complete (some cards taken out), but there were still 60 cards inside. got it for 20 euro (about $25).

am ersten samstag im monat ist flohmarkttag bei uns. nicht viel los heute – das wetter könnte besser sein, viele leute sind in urlaub… vielleicht ein viertel der stände im vergleich zu sonst. aber man weiß ja nie… JAAA, es hat sich gelohnt: hab dieses album mit alten cabinet- & card de visite – karten gefunden (zum ersten mal, dass ich in unserer stadt sowas gesehen habe). ist zwar nicht mehr voll, aber 60 karten sind noch drin und ich bekam es für 20 euro. geht doch:))

we had rainy days recently, so the happier i was when i saw the sun was shining this morning. the first saturday of the month is the day of fleamarket in our little town. – first it looked as if i couldn´t make a good find today. but then… one booth had LOTS of old books written in old letters. some had gotten a bit damp, so they were very cheap. i bought some and hope they will dry and not molder. one has wonderful technical/electrical diagrams, which will be perfect for making transparencies of the drawings. – another find was waiting for me: a big heap of neoprint-letters! they were cheap also, as they are not complete and some are damaged, but there surely will be enough left to play with in “lynne perrella-style”… and i don´t have to cry when i ruin one with acrylics or so… – there is just one thing i couldn´t find: a bigger house for all my mess… anyway, happy for today:))
