das hoch “sepideh” (ein weiblicher persischer vorname, den ich bisher auch noch nie gehört hatte) beschert uns dieser tage den denkbar schönsten altweibersommer. allmählich hat es sich wohl herumgesprochen, dass dieser terminus nichts mit alten weibern zu tun hat, sondern vom althochdeutschen “weiben” (= weben, von spinnennetzen) abgeleitet ist.
noch sind viele blätter grün, aber jetzt geht es dann ratz-fatz… und ich erwarte (hoffentlich morgen…) das eintreffen meiner neuen fotokamera… die hab ich mir verdient;)
there is no exact equivalent to the german term “altweibersommer”. it translates literally “old ladies´ summer”, but actually it is deriven from “weiben” = “weben” in modern german, which refers to spiders´ webs. it comes closely to the “indian summer”, which actually is a bit later and is associated with the colorful autumn leaves. well, we have the sunniest weather here, i could take photographs from morning to night (and i hope tomorrow will come my new camera…).
