as promised: my second file folder in the moon-months´ names series… december full moon is called “cold moon” – “the cold of winter sets in”
according to the new theme of the 3 muses i made this one with postage stamps (created with pictures of edward s. curtis again). all mailart related stamps are from ma vinci.
for this TT challenge we should use the “phoebe” texture from kim.
anything related with the moon is asked for at the new challenge at take a word.
i found this site which told me that there are special names for the full moon during each month of the year:
“The names for the Full Moon were made up by the Algonquian tribes of Native Americans. Most of the Algonquian people hunted and fished to get food, but some also grew crops. The names they had for the Moon are related to nature & the seasons, hunting & fishing, and farming. The Algonquian people lived all over the northern and eastern parts of North America. When settlers from Europe met up with them, some of the settlers started using most of the same names for the Full Moon.”

the first one shows a larch and is edited with: nancy donaldson´s w3 (blending mode exclusion) + 2x bonnie´s new texture wicked (blending modes hue and soft light), shadowhouse creations box 4 (b.m. substract, opacity 70%)

i photographed these two trees and edited the photo with kim klassen´s texture autumn burst at blending mode “difference” (plus another one from nancy donaldson – encaustic with graphics).
i wanted to make a little something for the girlfriend of my son… she´s such a wonderful young woman, a very creative soul and always appreciating my works. so i made this fabric scroll around a wooden bobbin, as she is a quotes lover like i am. this way i could combine some of my favorite media: i printed out some of the photos i made and edited recently (onto fabric), searched for some quotes (typed them onto scanned spraypainted backgrounds, also printed them on fabric) and sewed these alternating onto a long yellow piece of fabric.
(i´m a bit early, but as the theme of take-a-word on monday will be “sewing”, i offer this one for my contribution)
the last part of the fabric is glued to the bobbin, the rest is wound around the spool and can be held together with a ribbon i fixed in an eyelet
at the end i glued matching pictures at the top and bottom of the bobbin…
für die freundin meines sohnes wollte ich ein geburtstagsgeschenk machen – sie ist so eine liebe und kreative und immer ganz angetan von meinen sachen… deswegen war klar: sie kriegt etwas selbstgemachtes.
i often work quite cumbersome in achieving a certain result (to tell the truth: too lazy to read or explore instructions…). same here. i found the grid background somewhere online and thought that looks awesome. couldn´t figure out how to get my photos into the rounded edges. so i gave my pics a black ttv-frame first, then i could fiddle them into the black placeholder. sure there are better methods;) but as i said: cumbersome. that´s what i am sometimes. but i get my results;)
ich bin wieder zurück aus bad aibling (dort befindet sich karolas oase, der schmelmer hof) – es war wie immer wunderschön… mit ca. 15 gleichgesinnten und viel platz zum ausbreiten ist es der traum jedes stemplers:)
ich habe dort ein paar scrapsquares gemacht, die in der nächsten zeit auf meinem anderen blog erscheinen werden, und ein paar file folder bearbeitet, aus denen ich ein journal binden möchte.
die neue creavil-challenge für die nächsten 2 wochen heißt art journaling… das passt dann ja:))
obwohl ich meine artjournals nicht eigentlich als “persönliches tagebuch” (im sinne von “diary”) sehen würde, denn die ganz privaten sachen (mache ich zwar auch) stelle ich nicht hier öffentlich aus. ich betrachte die artjournals eher als eine art “magazin”, aber im wesentlichen ist es wohl einzuordnen unter dem, was in der blogwelt so als artjournal geläufig ist. häufig benutze ich sprüche (mag ich einfach sehr gern) und bilder (in letzter zeit v.a. selbst bearbeitete), so kann ich prima verschiedene leidenschaften kombinieren. der hintergrund ist bei einer sprühorgie im sommer entstanden und mit ein paar stempeln aufgepeppt worden. ich liebe diese file folder, mal ein größeres format (din-a-4), auf dem ich mich austoben kann…
