mixed media monday: ” just hanging out”

the new challenge at mmm (“just hanging out” – art that hangs) was a good chance to make an icicle “doll”; haven´t made one quite a while now.
the fox refers to a well known book of antoine de st. exupéry, “the little prince”:
text on the dyed ribbon (partly on the backside of the icicle) reads: you become responsible – forever – for what you have tamed.
fabric is from equilter.com; face of the fox printed on white cotton.

die neue herausforderung bei mmm möchte gern “kunst zum hängen” sehen. na, das ist ja mal wieder eine gelegenheit, ein icicle zu machen.
der fuchs bezieht sich auf das berühmte buch von antoine de st. exupéry, “der kleine prinz”:
der text auf dem eingefärbten band (z.t. ist er auf der rückseite) trägt den bekannten spruch: du wirst zeitlebens für das verantwortlich sein, was du dir vertraut gemacht hast.
stoff natürlich wieder von equilter, das fuchsgesicht wurde auf weißen baumwollstoff ausgedruckt.

the surprise hit me at my couch… i didn´t know (actually: had forgotten) belinda had sent in some dolls of our icicle swap to stampington.
so i was just browsing through the new issue of the magazine and suddely i hesitated… hey, what´s that?? whaaaa, my edgar allan poe icicle doll is published!!!
made my day!!!



na, das war wirklich DIE überraschung!! ich blättere da nichts ahnend auf der couch durch die neue ausgabe von sew somerset, da stutze ich auf einmal und plötzlich wird mir klar: “die kennste doch”… mein e.a. poe icicle püppchen! belinda hatte ein paar exemplare aus dem swap letzten jahres an stampington geschickt (hatte sie wohl mal erwähnt, aber ich hatte es längst vergessen…) und voilà… hier seht ihr es im großformat!
freu mich sehr darüber:)))

offensichtlich mache ich gerade lieber geburtstags-icicles statt karten…

eine ist für eine kollegin (vorn: ois guade = alles gute; hinten: zum 60sten), auf den tags unterschrieben alle, die am geschenk für sie beteiligt waren…

und die beiden gänschen sind für sanja – sie hat ja versprochen, die ihren gut zu behandeln und nicht als weihnachtsbraten zu züchten;))

seems i´m into icicles for birthdays more than into cards…

i made one for my colleague´s 60th (the tags are for the signatures of the fellows who bought a common present for her)

the geese are for sanja – i hope she treats her real ones well and won´t eat them for xmas;))

der junggebliebene affe (weil immer offen für neues) und der saint-exupéry’sche fuchs…
warten darauf, dass ich wieder irgendwo füllmaterial auftue, damit sie gestopft werden können…

the ape (staying young at heart, as always open for new adventures) and the fox à la saint-exupéry…
i will have to look out for some stuffing material to finish them…

hab jetzt länger schon keine icicles mehr gemacht und war jetzt in der stimmung für katzige… sie sind noch nicht ganz fertig, brauchen noch füllung und haare. der spruch auf der rückseite ist immer der gleiche. (hab ihn als stempel, aber auf baumwolle kommt er als inkjet-druck einfach besser raus…)
i haven´t done icicle dolls in a while… now i was in the mood to make some cats. not finished yet, stuffing and hair waits to be done. the saying on the back always is the same. (i have this as a stamp, but it turns out better when i print it onto cotton directly.)

die letzten tage war das wetter ziemlich mies – regnerisch und kühl… ich habe die zeit genutzt und an meinem püppchenbaum gewerkelt.
beim bäumeschneiden vor einigen wochen hatte ich mir ein paar gut verästelte kirschzweige aufgehoben. die hab ich jetzt entrindet, mit gesso grundiert und dann mit acrylfarben schön bunt angemalt. jetzt hab ich eine prima möglichkeit, ein paar von den püppchen schön zu präsentieren:)

(werde wohl die vase noch mit glaskugeln füllen; damit sie nicht gleich umfällt, wenn die katze… *räusper*)

the last days were rainy and cold. time to work on my icicle dolls – tree:)
when i cut the cherry-tree in early spring i saved some branches with good ramifications. i removed the bark now, gessoed it and painted it colorfully with acrylics. now finally i have a good way for presentation…
(i think i will fill the vase with glass marbles… just in case the cat would find it interesting…)

hier liegt noch eine “celestial icicle”, die ein neues zuhause sucht:)

diese tollen icicles kamen grade mit der post: (von links nach rechts) von chua lay hoon (malaysien), tina shoaga (usa), kara klein (usa), swapveranstalterin belinda schneider (luxemburg) und… die fünfte weiß ich nicht von wem… kann mir da jemand helfen?
ich find sie jedenfalls alle ganz klasse und bedanke mich ganz herzlich bei den teilnehmerinnen und natürlich ganz besonders bei belinda fürs veranstalten des swaps:)))

edit: die fünfte icicle (ganz rechts) ist von sammy (usa).
