surfing the net i recently had found out about a quarterly zine with the topic of atcs. i came across that on silvia luna´s website and i think there is no direct link to her blogentry, so i do copy it here:
“Okay so I get home and find a great surprise in my mailbox. It was my ATC Quarterly. Back in April when Ronna Mogelon (co-editor along with Susan Valyi) contacted me about submitting work for an article, I was more than happy to help out, even though I was not familiar with her zine. I have a few pages in this zine featuring a few of my cards and my process.
That is not why I am blogging this. The reason I am talking about this is ’cause I want to shout it from the rooftops that this is one of the highest quality zines I have ever seen! The entire zine is done on feels great paper and the COLOR printing is the best I have seen! They do a standard page format folded in half, this issue #3 has a total of 24 pages including it’s cover. The articles are all well-written with well thought of layouts, I am giving this zine 11 stars out of 10. You all know that 11 is my special number! Every atc photo is edgy just the way I love them. Believe it or not, my atc’s seems to be the most tame compared to the rest. ATC Quarterly #3 not only prints really cool atc’s to see, but interesting articles relating to teaching, displaying, as well as highlighting really rad artists like Julie Durocher, Ed Giecek, and my dear friend Sarah Fishburn. So, my advice is this is definitely a zine worth subscribing to! I am for sure.”
well, that sounded worth a try. i ordered back issues and i am really pleased with that zine. it is not “cheap” (my subscription to germany is $40 a year), but it is well worth the prize. i love the concept of the zine – go and look!

kürzlich bin ich beim surfen bei silvia luna über ein zine gestolpert, das mir bisher noch unbekannt war: atc quarterly. sie hat es in so hohen tönen gepriesen, dass ich es auf einen versuch ankommen und mir ein paar der älteren ausgaben schicken ließ. silvia hat recht: wirklich ein zine höchster druckqualität und gut durchdachtes konzept und layout. gefällt mir – auch wenn es relativ teuer ist, finde ich es seinen preis wert ($40 = 30 euro im jahr für 4 ausgaben; pro ausgabe 24 seiten. dabei ist eine seite din-a-5 im querformat, man blättert das zine also quasi von unten nach oben – äääh, verständlich??). ihr könnt euch selbst ein bild machen auf der website, dort gibts auch ausgabe no.4 als pdf zum runterladen.
oh, do not forget to explore the section codex at ashes and snow! click on each of the books – enjoy them one for one. and don´t set your pc on “mute” (as i mostly do;)
ach, nachträglich entdeckt: auf ashes and snow unbedingt die abteilung codex anschauen. ein buch nach dem anderen durchblättern. und nicht – wie ich meistens – den lautsprecher des pc abschalten;)

in the mail was michelle´s package she sent me for winning crusade no.8! WOW, what a cram-full big fat envelope of such beautiful things, i´m totally blown away!
one thing is for sure: she is the queen of cram-packing!! i would never get all those things back into this one envelope LOL!! i made two pics to show you all the wonderful stuff (you can click for details)… even unpacking was a feast for the eyes with all that b/w wrapping papers in various patterns:)

heute kam michelles päckchen, das sie mir für die crusade no.8 geschickt hat! WOW, ein gigantisch fetter umschlag, zum bersten gefüllt mit lauter schönen dingen. ich bin von den socken! eins ist mal sicher: sie ist die königin des vollstopfens!! nie mehr würd ich all das zeug zurück in den umschlag kriegen LOL!! ich hab mal 2 fotos gemacht von all den tollen sachen (kann man auch anklicken um alles genau zu sehen)… schon das auspacken war ein fest für die augen mit all den geschenkpapierpäckchen in überwiegend s/w.

michelle, the nice mousepad was a good stabilizor for the rest, very clever! never saw such “relief embossed” paper-tiles before, what a great texture! LOVE that punched cardstock for the coilbook (i think this will be my favorite because of the spraypainted cover)!!! great asian papers with gold & silver! can anybody ever have enough tags?? love these slide-booklets, too. and the turquoise notecards are marked with my monogramm… not to forget the rubber, brads, guitar-picks and egg-paints for coloring paper (including instruction; this will be fun!!). and – well, i do admit, i had hoped for *g*… yes!! a copy of HIM hits:))) playing in the background now that i´m typing… wait – another favorite: 2 sheets of “impress-on”-images from christine adolph… so cool!!
oh i wish i could start to play instantly… but there is the big 5 to be celebrated in 2 days… and some *minor* (or not so minor…) preparations are to be made…
anyway, you brought me lots of joy – thank you so much, michelle!!!!!!!
ich find alles klasse!!!
ein gemustertes mousepad (mal sehen, wozu ich das verwenden werde…) stabilisierte die anderen sachen. geprägte papierquadrate mit tollem muster (nie gesehen so was)! ich LIEBE die vorgelochten farbigen papiere für ein spiralbuch (ich glaub das wird mein liebling werden wegen dem cover mit den sprühmustern)!! asiatische papiere mit gold & silberauflagen, tags – von denen kann man ja wirklich nie genug haben!! mikroskopglas-büchlein und ein packen türkiser notecards mit meinem anfangsbuchstaben… und natürlich gummis, brads, gitarren-pleks und eierfarbe (find ich besonders witzig, sie hat eine anleitung dazu geschrieben, wie man damit papier einfärbt;). ha, und – wie ich gehofft hatte, eine cd von HIM hits:))) läuft gerade im hintergrund, während ich hier tippe… halt – noch ein super dingens: aufrubbel-motive von christine adolph… total cool (mag ja schon ihre stempel so gerne).
ich wünschte, ich könnte sofort los legen… aber da gibt´s ja übermorgen die große 5 zu feiern… und da muss ich noch ein paar kleinere (oder größere;) vorbereitungen machen…
auf jeden fall war das päckchen eine große freude – vielen herzlichen dank, michelle!!!!!

all stamps from greenpepperpress. quote from the internet, printed onto the painted cardstock. the artistamp is painted by donald evans. he did a series about birdeggs.
i supposed many of the participants would take the eggs from greenpepperpress. so i only took the bird and the swirls from michelle and stamped the eggs with rubber from tin can mail. can you see i fixed the ribbon with tiny egg-brads;)?
hab mal angenommen, dass diese woche viele teilnehmer die eier von gpp verwenden würden… deshalb habe ich von michelle nur den raben und die baumkringel benutzt. der eier-stempel ist von tin can mail. ist euch aufgefallen, dass ich das band mit kleinen eier-brads fixiert habe;)?
