i only show one more spread, but all 30 are done now. it was not much work left, i had prepared the text and background stamping in august. only some add-ons to make, and voilà…

last thing to finish was the bookcover. i glued the metal letters onto the golden stamped cover. translation is “goldsmith of words” (which is the titel of the book in the book also).

eine doppelseite zeige ich noch, dann reichts – sie sind alle fertig jetzt und in ähnlichem stil (damit sie zusammen passen) gemacht. viel war ja nicht mehr zu tun, die größten vorbereitungen fanden schon im august statt, nur noch ein bisschen was zum aufpeppen der seiten dazugeklebt.

ich hatte zwar nicht vor, alle seiten des buches zu zeigen, aber da ich sonst gerade auch nichts mache… falls es euch langweilt, könnt ihr ja wegklicken, ansonsten lassen sich die bilder vergrößern, damit man den text auch lesen kann.

nun ist mein großer also 18! er hatte eine fetzengaudi auf seiner geburtstagsfete, die ich zusammen mit seinen kumpels vorbereitet hatte. er musste auf einem internationalen volleyballturnier spielen und als er abends zurückkam und von seinen johlenden freunden begrüßt wurde, war er erstmal erschlagen. sie hatten eine superstimmung, um 3 uhr war dann schluss und um halb acht musste er wieder raus zum turnier. aber mit 18 steckt man das noch locker weg;)

nun also endlich zu meiner medina-arbeit (viel hab ich ja nicht geschafft…):

hier sind die ersten 4 doppelseiten in meinem buch über auszüge aus pascal mercier´s “nachtzug nach lissabon”. sie sind sich im layout recht ähnlich, da sie als buch ja eine einheit formen sollen.
bilder und texte sind auf kontenbuchseiten gedruckt, die hintergründe bestempelt, dann mit neocolor II bearbeitet und mullbinden, tape etc. aufgeklebt.

die texte hatte ich aus dem buch gewählt, weil sie mich angesprochen hatten. jemand anderes hätte sich möglicherweise für andere stellen entschieden.

nun habe ich immer noch 26 doppelseiten fertig zu stellen! ich werde hier nicht alle zeigen, da sie von der art her ja doch ähnlich sein werden. als letztes kommt das cover dran, das zeig ich dann vielleicht, aber das dürfte noch dauern. morgen geht erst mal wieder die schule los, dann ist für die nächsten wochen die freizeit wieder knapp…

now my son´s 18th birthday is over. he had a blast of a surprise-party yesterday, which i had helped to prepare with his buddies last week. he had to play at an international volleyball-tournament and his mouth stood open when he came back in the evening to be welcomed by his friends. they really had fun until 3 o´clock in the morning, and he had to play volleyball today again;) but youth puts this away…

now i finally find the time to show what i made at the medina.

here are the first 4 spreads of my book with excerpts from “night train to lisbon”. they all have a similar layout, as they should form a unity as a book. pics and texts printed onto ledger paper, backgrounds stamped. worked on with neocolor II, glued on some gauze bandages, tapes & such.

the texts are taken from the book as they spoke to me. anybody else maybe would have taken other excerpts.

i still have to work on the other 26 spreads… but as they will be somewhat similar, i don´t think i will upload them (at least not all). will show the cover – this will be the last part to work on. might take some time, as tomorrow school starts again and my leisure time will be very limited the next weeks.

did i mention i love being alone at home? that´s how my workspace (= dining table) looks after one hour… normally i would have to move everything away for lunch, but this week i can leave everything until dinner. that´s such a good feeling…

hab ich schon gesagt, wie gern ich allein zu hause bin? so schaut mein stempelplatz (= esstisch) nach ca. einer stunde aus… normalerweise müsste ich nachher alles wegräumen zum mittagessen, aber diese woche kann alles bis abends liegen bleiben. das ist ja auch mal toll…

i have started to make the intro spread. the spiralbound book was storebought – the pages were white, so i colored them in the last days.
i love that weed and seedpod stamps and have bought quite some of them recently. in combination with some matching photos i plan to make the background layouts and then add the text passages. (i have quite a collection from years of buying flower magazines plus use some photos from the internet.)

ich habe vorhin mal die einführungsseite gemacht. das spiralbuch hab ich von boesner gekauft, die seiten waren weiß und ich hab sie die letzten 2 tage eingefärbt.
ich liebe diese wildblumen- u. -kräuterstempel und hab mir in letzter zeit einige davon gekauft. in kombi mit entsprechenden fotos möchte ich die hintergründe gestalten und dann die texte dazu fügen. (ich hab ne ziemliche sammlung an pflanzenfotos durch jahrelanges kaufen von blumenmagazinen – kann da sehr schlecht widerstehen -, außerdem hab ich mir noch fotos aus dem internet ausgedruckt.)
