take a word: blackbird

the upcoming theme for take-a-word is blackbirds… so i made this storyboard with photos of the magpie my cat killed recently. positioned some bodyparts on spray painted backgrouds and arranged the squares digitally.
(the biologist in me knows that magpies belong to the bird-family of corvidae, but the “real” blackbirds are turdidae. but both are in the order of passeriformes… so far about things you did not want to know *g*)
diese bildersammlung habe ich gemacht mit fotos der toten elster (als model auf gesprayten hintergründen), die mein kater letztens gefangen hatte. die kommende woche geht es bei take-a-word zwar um “blackbirds”, genaugenommen also amseln… aber das schert ja wohl keinen. nur die biologin in mir muss hier ein bisschen korinthenkacken, denn während amseln zur familie der drosseln gehören, sind elstern rabenvögel – allerdings gehören beide zur ordnung der sperlingsvögel. was ihr noch nie wissen wolltet *g*…

PAF – snail mail / freebie

on the second one i used bonnie´s medieval magic texture. i decided to turn it into a faux postage stamp (which i often do with my pictures), adding the stencil std font.
i´d like to offer this as a freebie for you to use… just print it out in a small format and cut it with stamp scissors (fiskars f.e.). i really love to personalize my mail/art this way…

das hoch “sepideh” (ein weiblicher persischer vorname, den ich bisher auch noch nie gehört hatte) beschert uns dieser tage den denkbar schönsten altweibersommer. allmählich hat es sich wohl herumgesprochen, dass dieser terminus nichts mit alten weibern zu tun hat, sondern vom althochdeutschen “weiben” (= weben, von spinnennetzen) abgeleitet ist.
noch sind viele blätter grün, aber jetzt geht es dann ratz-fatz… und ich erwarte (hoffentlich morgen…) das eintreffen meiner neuen fotokamera… die hab ich mir verdient;)
there is no exact equivalent to the german term “altweibersommer”. it translates literally “old ladies´ summer”, but actually it is deriven from “weiben” = “weben” in modern german, which refers to spiders´ webs. it comes closely to the “indian summer”, which actually is a bit later and is associated with the colorful autumn leaves. well, we have the sunniest weather here, i could take photographs from morning to night (and i hope tomorrow will come my new camera…).

on monday suddenly i heard loud bird alarm at our front door. i wondered what happened and saw that our tomcat had caught a magpie. ugh, that cat can drive me crazy killing birds!! but then i saw the possibilities (i will go straight to hell, i know)… so this actually is not a “raven” claw… i positioned it on a background paper i spray painted recently. layered with two free textures from flickr, ugglove from kim klassen and font is zombified. (find the other PAF contributors here; and the font name should qualify it for the upcoming zombie theme at SPA, too *g*).
edit: i just wanted to comment on the other entries, but at some blogs blogger won´t let me!! arghhh!! i´m getting frustrated with it!
am montag war plötzlich großer vogellärm vor der haustür. ich schau nach und muss sehen, dass unser kater eine elster erlegt hat. ich könnt ihn erwürgen, wenn er vögel fängt!!… aber dann sah ich die gelegenheit (ok, ich werde auf direktem weg in die hölle kommen). statt lange sinnlos mitleid mit dem vogel zu haben, tja nun… das foto zeigt also keine “raben”klaue… fotografiert auf kürzlich gespraytem hintergrund, mit texturen von flickr und kim klassen bearbeitet und dem font zombified beschriftet (deswegen zählt es auch zum kommenden sonntagsthema bei SPA, “zombies” *g*).

the 3 muses – “moon”

theme over at the 3 muses is “moon”. spray painted file folder, the background stamp of the luna moth is from meer image, the moon-picture is from stampscapes (it came ready to cut out;)), text is die cut and printed. the big butterfly wing that i used for stenciling was from an wooden toy (maybe you know these animals – dinosaurs etc. – who are assembled sticking together various parts, looking a bit skeletal…)

“love” should be part of this TT entry… i just noticed there are hearts all over in the grass with clover leaves…

i know, i know… this would be perfect for a “mouse over” action, but so far i did not find the time to try out kim´s video lesson (have no photobucket or similar picture host yet). too many other things going on these days… and if i find some spare time i´m out in the garden to enjoy the beautiful autumn days.

take a word: album

this upcoming week take-a-word challenges us to take album photos… i decided not to go with my family, but to take pictures of marionettes from scott radke (featured in an older issue of art-doll-quarterly), because i like their melancholy expressions very much. [i really would love to own one of them, but they sell out faster than i get a chance...] – i took a file folder i spray painted recently, text is die cut respectively printed. stamps are from dylusions and art journey. added some tinted cut-outs from an old biology book.
wieder mal ein file folder, den ich kürzlich eingesprayt habe. take-a-word möchte in der kommenden woche bilder aus einem album sehen. ich wollte nicht meine eigenen fotos benutzen und bin ausgewichen auf marionettenbilder von scott radke (er hatte mal einen artikel in einer alten art-doll-quarterly ausgabe), deren melancholischen ausdruck ich sehr liebe. – der text ist gestanzt bzw ausgedruckt, stempelmäßig kamen zum einsatz art journey und meine neuen dylusions, außerdem hab ich noch alte biobuch-seiten eingefärbt zur ergänzung.
