kalenderblatt 10. oktober

today is alan carwright´s birthday, who was bassist of the band procul harum. i´m getting a bit nostalgic hearing a whiter shade of pale (though the song was from the time before cartwright´s membership)…

~~~~~
We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, ‘There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.’
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well’ve been closed
rice freeman-zachery
wer die zeitschriften von stampington kennt (oder auch rubberstampmadness), dem ist auch der name rice freeman-zachery ein begriff. sie schreibt als freie autorin immer wieder über verschiedene künstler und hat letztes jahr ein buch veröffentlicht mit dem titel “living a creative life”.
ich hab dieses buch selbst (noch) nicht, bin jetzt aber auf ein video gestoßen, in dem sie über dieses buch spicht. scheint mir sehr interessant zu sein… wegen des tollen wetters (da will ich jetzt nicht ewig am pc sitzen und mir die fast 52 minuten!! anhören / aber die ersten 10 min ließen sich schon mal gut an…) hab ich mir den link gespeichert und sobald ich dazu komme, werde ich weiter hören…
if you have the leisure to listen 52 minutes to rice freeman-zachery, you might enjoy this link above… rice, a frequent author at magazines of stampington and rubberstampmadness, talks about her book “living a creative life” – i´ve heard the first 10 minutes so far and it sounds really interesting… (the weather here is just too sunny to stay at the pc so long… but it is bookmarked for a rainy day…)
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
Killing the blues…
(click to listen…)
Leaves were falling, just like embers,
In colors red and gold, they set us on fire
Burning just like moonbeams in our eyes.
~~~~~

[Chorus:] Somebody said they saw me, swinging the world by the tail

Bouncing over a white cloud, killing the blues.

~~~~~
Now I’m guilty of something…
I hope you never do
Because there is nothing
Any sadder than losing yourself in love.
[Chorus]
And then you’ve ask me… just to leave you
To set out on my own
And get what I needed.
You want me to find what I’ve already had.
[Chorus 2x]
(this fabric page is part of a book i made – you can see it here)
behind blue eyes
(click for you tube)
No one knows what it’s like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it’s like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren’t as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That’s never free
No one knows what it’s like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams
They aren’t as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That’s never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it’s like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
kalenderblatt 4. dezember
it is 14 years now that the musical genius frank zappa died. not many were that busy and versatile… one of my favorite songs: camarillo brillo
wie die zeit rast… unglaubliche 14 jahre ist es jetzt schon wieder her, dass das wahnsinnig fleißige und vielfältige musikgenie frank zappa gestorben ist.
einer meiner frühen lieblingslieder war camarillo brillo ;)
She had thatCamarillo brillo
Flamin’ out along her head,
I mean her Mendocino bean-o
By where some bugs had made it red
She ruled the Toads of the Short Forest
And every newt in Idaho
And every cricket who had chorused
By the bush in Buffalo
She said she was
A Magic Mama
And she could throw a mean Tarot
And carried on without a comma
That she was someone I should know
She had a snake for a pet
And an amulet
And she was breeding a dwarf
But she wasn’t done yet
She had gray-green skin
A doll with a pin
I told her she was awright
But I couldn’t come in
(I couldn’t come in right then . . . )
And so she wandered
Through the door-way
Just like a shadow from the tomb
She said her stereo was four-way
An’ I’d just love it in her room
Well, I was born
To have adventure
So I just followed up the steps
Right past her fuming incense stencher
To where she hung her castanets
She stripped away
Her rancid poncho
An’ laid out naked by the door
We did it till we were un-concho
An’ it was useless any more
She had a snake for a pet
And an amulet
And she was breeding a dwarf
But she wasn’t done yet
She had gray-green skin
A doll with a pin
I told her she was awright
But I couldn’t come in
(actually, I was very busy then)
And so she wandered
Through the door-way
Just like a shadow from the tomb
She said her stereo was four-way
An’ I’d just love it in her room
Well, I was born
To have adventure
So I just followed up the steps
Right past her fuming incense stencher
To where she hung her castanets
She said she was
A Magic Mama
And she could throw a mean Tarot
And carried on without a comma
That she was someone I should know
(Is that a real poncho . . . I mean
Is that a Mexican poncho or is that a Sears poncho?
Hmmm . . . no foolin’ . . . )
