autumn glory – again…

ein wahnsinnig schöner tag, gestern (und die vorhersage für heute ist ebenso…) – muss man sofort nutzen, denn schöne tage sind dieses jahr ja nicht so häufig…
ich machte mich wieder auf den weg mit der *kleinen* kamera (die große hat mein sohn dabei, den es heute in die berge gezogen hat…); aber man soll ja die qualität der bilder nicht nach der kamera beurteilen… *g* … speziell beim letzten bild hätte ich mir ein bisschen mehr tiefenschärfe gewünscht, aber ich kanns halt nicht besser;)

we had a wonderful autumn day yesterday (and forecast for today is the same…) – as we are not spoilt with sunny days this year, i immediately took my camera for a walk…

i took about 50 pictures of cow parsnip – i just love its umbels:)))
i had to photograph from below against the sky – so it was a lottery game to get good pictures.
the seeds are mostly fallen down meanwhile and i like how the rest looks like an assembly of many spider legs;)

i had made some backgrounds recently, spraying with various glimmer mists and some stencils (here: felt flower borders)
from my walk on monday i had brought some umbels and made some photographs with these on the backgrounds (more to come in a later post – when i will have more time…)

now when i read about the new crusade i thought i could perfectly use these backgrounds…
printed it out twice (about a-5-size).

on the first copy i started taking the umbel as a base to write… then i took a pink neocolor II and wrote some more text over the page.
stamped the circles (paperbag studios) and lines (gpp), then the insect image on vellum and fixed it on the page with staples and green masking tape (teared at both sides). i LOVE these masking tapes!!
added the faux postage pic and a cancellation stamp. an old text strip in light blue was glued on and edged with neocolor II. another neocolor II for edging the whole page – done!

on the second copy i started stenciling a black crow with an inkpad and a sponge. some stamps added on background. found some weed pictures which i printed in small rows on old ledger paper. glued on air mail label – plus cancellation stamp.
again final edging of everything with neocolor II in according colors. seems i can´t live without them;)

which one do you like better??
are they really different?? seems it´s hard for me to step outside my comfort zone;)
anyway, thanks michelle for the challenge. might do more…

dies ist mein 1000. blogpost und das möchte ich gerne mit euch feiern… im märz 2006 fing es an, und es hat mir immer spaß gemacht meine kreationen hier zu zeigen (die scrapsquares auf dem anderen blog sind hier natürlich nicht eingerechnet…)
this is my 1000th blog post and i would like to celebrate with you… it started in march 2006 and i always loved to show my creations here (not counted of course are the scrapsquares on my other blog…)

ps: the pictures of the flowers are from a bouquet my husband gave to me *just because*… he always succeeds surprising me, as i never get flowers on valentine etc, but on days i don´t expect it… and that´s what i love so much!!

flea market finds

am ersten samstag im monat ist bei uns flohmarkt. das wetter war heute morgen noch nicht recht freundlich, so dass ich mir echt überlegte, ob ich überhaupt hingehen soll… hab mich dann doch aufgerafft und ein paar wirklich nette sachen gefunden:
the first saturday of the month is flea market day in our little town. the weather was not so fine this morning, so i hesitated – but then i went there and had some good finds:

eigentlich schau ich ja überhaupt nicht mehr nach büchern mit alter schrift, aber diesem hier konnte ich dann doch nicht widerstehen – es ist nur etwa atc-groß und hat wirklich eine riesige schrift!
normally i´m no longer looking for books with old script (i have enough of them), but i couldn´t resist this one – it is only about atc-size and really has big letters!

nicht ganz so leicht zu finden (und deshalb auch nicht ganz so billig; 4 euro wars mir dann auch wert) sind alte bücher mit tabellenkalkulationen, technischen zeichnungen etc. – dieses ist von 1930 und hat 180 seiten, vollgepfropft mit seiten wie dieser:
not so easy to find (and therefore not so cheap) are old books with numbers, calculations and drawings of mechanical things… so i had to buy this one from 1930… 180 pages chock full of pages like this one:

und diese alten weihnachtsfotos hab ich dann auch noch erstanden (zum kramen in den cabinet cards war ich dann zu faul, mein bedarf für heute war dann gesättigt…)

ach, und nicht zu vergessen mein erster fund gleich zu anfang (da wars dann eigentlich schon klar, dass es sich rentiert hatte;))… 8 kartenspiele für meine sammlung, in gutem zustand, verschiedene sonderausgaben (besonders schön natürlich loriot…)

it is like waiting for christmas… if you are waiting for something very urgently, it surely will last long. i ordered most of these tapes almost 4 weeks ago – but they seemed to get stuck in the customs or something like that. anyway, here they are finally. the ones on the left are from tim holtz, these are not new. but the rest i ordered via etsy in japan and the usa and i´m very pleased with the designs and colors:)

es ist ja wie mit weihnachten (als kind, versteht sich;))… wenn man auf irgendetwas besonders stark hinfiebert, scheint es ewig zu dauern. so gings mir jetzt auch mit diesen tapes, die ich vor fast 4 wochen bestellt hatte – aber die wohl im zoll oder irgendwo sonst steckengeblieben waren. na, jetzt sind sie ja endlich hier. die links sind von tim holtz, die hab ich schon länger. aber die anderen hab ich über etsy bestellt und ich finde die muster und farben einfach herrlich!

hier nun ein paar der hintergründe, die ich in den letzten wochen gesprayt habe… die blätter sind din-a-3 groß (einige aquarell-, andere skizzenpapier). ich hab mit glimmer mists und verdünnten refills von tuschefarben gesprüht; leider bekam ich nicht wirklich ein gutes foto hin… den schimmer verschiedener farben sieht man sowieso nicht… das orange blatt rechts glüht richtig schön herbstlich, auch das kommt nicht so rüber…
im vordergrund sieht man etwas von der aktion mit dem rechen, in der mitte (hinter den vögeln) hab ich schablonen verwendet, die seit jahrzehnten hier herumliegen. muss was geometrisches sein (?), obwohl sie meines wissens nie jemand für etwas gebraucht hat… aber man wirft ja nix weg;) sieht doch richtig swirlig aus, oder?

here you see some of the backgrounds (a-3 size) i sprayed the last weeks… i took glimmer mists and some dye inks (refills, diluted with water in a spritz bottle); hard to take a good picture… you can´t see the shimmer… the orange one on the right has a wonderful autumnal glow…
in the foreground you can see some of the rake sprayings… and behind the birds there are two sheets (swirl like) which i made with some geometry stencils i had laying around here for ages (at least i think they are for geometry, but i can´t remember anybody ever needed them…)

heute war so ein wahnsinnig schöner herbsttag, sonnig und warm – und laut wettervorhersage erstmal der letzte, es soll regen kommen und kalt werden die nächsten tage. also nix wie raus in den garten. aber was tun? ein bisschen aufräumarbeiten standen an (hopfen zurückschneiden & so was…), aber ständig war im hinterkopf, dass ich das wetter eigentlich auch noch mal zu einer sprühaktion nutzen wollte. und zack, fiel mein blick auf den laubrechen… na, die perfekte schablone für strahlenmuster!! so dass mein rechen jetzt in allen möglichen glimmer mist farben glitzert und mich noch lange an einen schönen tag erinnern wird:)

today was a terrific autumn day, sunny and warm – and the forecast is rain and cold weather for the next days, so garden time was on my schedule. but what to do first? i started doing some *real* gardening, cutting back the hop & such… but at the back of my mind i always thought i should take advantage of the weather and make another spraying action. and hey, my eyes looked at the rake and i instantly knew this would make the perfect stencil for rays!! so my rake now is glittering with some glimmer mist colors and will remind me of a very beautiful day:)

ein paar blumen blühen auch noch… besonders fleißig der sonnenhut…
a few flowers are still blooming… especially the rudbeckia…

nach einem kräftigen rückschnitt nach der ersten blüte kommt die lupine nochmal…
the lupine makes a second turnus, because i cut it back after the first one…


eine kleine lilienart – alles irgendwie gelb um diese zeit…

und was ich auch sehr liebe, dieses *unkraut*… muss eine asternart sein, ist wild aufgegangen, die ganze staude ist voll kleiner blüten die aussehen wie gänseblümchen…
and i especially love this *weed*… should be an aster, full of little blossoms which look like daisies…
und natürlich genießt auch die katze so einen tollen sonnentag!
and of course the cat as well is enjoying such a beautiful sunny day!
