next one in the moon series – in july the full moon is called “buck moon”:
“new antlers of buck deer, coated with velvety fur, began to form”
PAF – nov 25th – nov 27th
this week at PAF the suggestion is: “to link up a piece of photo art sitting in your archives that never received the ‘attention’ it deserved”
so these two are variations on previously shown photos with different blending modes…
freddie mercury
new nancy donaldson textures in my email account (*rejoicing*)… couldn´t resist to play immediately…
i thought the perfect theme would be to make an homage for freddie mercury, who died 20 years ago. what a voice – what a man!!! listened to teo torriatte several times (wonderful ballade, not heard as often as the biggest hits), while looking for pics in the net and also found the queen font to fit the collage.
blended the photos together and added nancy´s “garage 2″ texture (will be published on her flickr these days…). brushed out (layer mask) the texture from the faces and gave it a little twist with the color balance adjustment into red. *hey, freddie, hope you rest in peace… but could you please rehearse some new songs for welcoming us in heaven one day;)*
neue texturen von nancy heute in meinem email-account… musste sofort eine ausprobieren. und da es sich anbot, hab ich eben mal eine homage zum 20. todestag von freddie mercury gemacht. hab immer wieder teo torriatte laufen lassen (eine wunderschöne ballade, nicht gar so ausgelutscht wie die bekanntesten hits), während ich nach bildern gegoogelt und auch den queen font entdeckt habe.
*hey freddie, ich gönn dir ja deinen frieden, aber du könntest doch fürs wiedersehen leicht noch ein paar neue songs für uns einüben… tätest bestimmt auch den engerln einen gefallen;)*

i took the chance to make a little homage to klaus kinski, who really walked the line between genius and insanity… he died 20 years ago.
texture tuesday
the only request for this week was to use one texture of kim klassens´. so i took “warm grunge” from her texture bundle.
take a word: umbrella
the photo with the umbrella seeds of a dandelion was the starting point for this layout. all elements (background, ticket, circles) are from jessica sprague, brushes (tapes, halftone pattern) are free downloads found in the internet.
the moon series: pink moon
in the month of april the full moon is called “pink moon” (an early spring flower called “moss pink” started to bloom). i googled the flower and found out that we have a similar postage stamp which really fits this bloom very well. on friday (after an odyssey of 7 seven weeks) i got wonderful mail from patty (thank you so much!!), including a magazine with this wonderful photo of a young native american girl – which was perfect for this layout.
wonderful november morning
seit wochen haben wir konstantes, eigentlich schönes spätherbstwetter. eigentlich, weil wir hier in einem “nebelloch” wohnen – oft ist es ein paar kilometer weiter bereits total sonnig, aber hier kämpfen die lichtstrahlen oft vergeblich… heute habe ich schon beim frühstück die schönen raureifnetze und -überzüge erspäht und musste sofort raus… hier eine kleine impression…
a small impression of our wonderful late fall… we had no rain for weeks, but a lot of fog. today i spied the gorgeous hoar frost in the morning and had to go for a little walk…
new digital editions…
again i played with the new textures from nancy donaldson (i really was challenged with the first one… found it hard to find a picture fitting the “knitted & drawn” texture…). and with these i can also show my “go-to” technique (for PAF) i use on almost every photo: i am switching through all blending modes and searching the one that appeals to me most, AND: i often use a layer mask to brush a part of the pic free from texture. so here: the flower and the ladybug are “brushed free” several times.
the ladybug photo is a homage at our domestic species of these insects (the red ones with the seven black spots). currently we have an invasion really with the asian species (harmonias), which are a little bigger (and colored in some variations) and probably will become a problem for our native ones. i found this one on my walk last week, the whole sunny edge of the forest densely populated with the harmonias.
took twice the text layer from nancy donaldson for this one plus another one from flickr, and brushed free the beetle from each texture.
dieser einheimische siebenpunkt ist eine homage an unsere marienkäfer, die gerade heftig verdrängt werden von der etwas größeren asiatischen art. zwar sind diese auch nützlich hinsichtlich blattlausvertilgung, aber “unsere” find ich viel schöner… vielleicht nostalgie, denn schon aus unseren kinderbilderbüchern waren sie nicht wegzudenken… letzte woche war ich auf meinem spaziergang am sonnigen waldrand wieder eingekreist (ja nicht den mund aufmachen! super lästig!!) von den “zugezogenen” und umso erfreuter, doch auch noch einen “eingeborenen” zu finden…
